Advocacy

In order to permanently improve the health situation of people in a country it is crucial that the human rights are protected by laws and regulations that are actually enforced and observed. To realise this, Simavi encourages and supports partners to actively influence policy, hold local and national governments authorities and politicians accountable for their actions and empower people and institutes to stand up for their rights.

Policy influencing in the future                                                                                               

Policy influencing shall play an even more important role for Simavi from 2011 onwards with the start of the five-year programmes of SRHR and the WASH alliance. Working together with several partners in a programme means that te partners have more knowledge, a larger network and are more influential.

For this become well ingrained in the organisation, Simavi is currently reviewing the vission and strategy related to policy influencing.  

Advocacy in The Netherlands                                                                                                  

Also in the Netherlands, policy influencing has been given a more prominent role within the organisation. Simavi participates in various networks and has activities to a variety of themes.
